PARVEEN BABI

Parveen Babi was one of the top heroines of 70's and 80's who acted opposite all of the eminent  actors of Bollywood during that period.That gorgeous beautiful actress possessed fabulous dancing skill and acting capabilities.She was highly fashionable and was compared with Zeenat Aman with the resemblance in such aspects.
This glamourous  actress was the heartthrob of millions of her fans during her youthful days and she had the charisma to attract audience  to the  theaters where her films were exhibited.
Parveen Babi was born on  4th April 1949 at Junagadh,Gujarat in a Muslim family.Her father 'Wali Mohammed Babi' was administrator with the Nawab of Junagadh.










Parveen Babi passed M.A.English Literature course from St.Xavier;s college,Ahmedabad.She started modelling in 1972 and soon got chance to act in a film 'Charitra'(73) opposite cricketer Salim Duriyani and the film was a flop.Her second film was also not a success but her acting talents and mesmerizing
 beauty was noticed and she was cast opposite Amitabh Bachchan in Majboor(74) which became a super-hit film.Majboor was directed by Ravi Tandon.From thereon she got offers from big banners consecutively and most of her films were hits and super-hits.
She was the first Bollywood star to appear on the front page of 'Time' magazine in July 1976.
She acted opposite Amitabh Bachchan in eight films and all of them were hits or super hits.
She acted opposite Shashi Kapoor in Namak Halal,acted opposite Feroz Khan in Kala Sona,acted opposite Dharmendra in Jaani Dost etc.
She appeared in offbeat films also  opposite Naseeruddin Shah.
She acted alongside Zeenat Aman in Mahaan, and Ashanti.
She acted opposite Manoj Kumar,Rishi Kapoor and Rajesh Khanna also.
'Trimurti' was a  hit film in which Sanjay Khan,Rakesh Roshan,A.K.Hanghal,Parveen Babi etc acted.
In the film 'Deewar' Amitabh Bachchan was the hero.Shashi Kapoor,Neetu Singh,Parveen Babi,Madan Puri ,Nirupa Roy etc acted along with her.
'Bullet' was Dev Anand film of 76 in which Kabir Bedi also acted.Director was Vijay Anand.
Amar Akbar Anthony was super duper hit of 1977 directed by Manmohan Desai.Amitabh Bachchan,Rishi Kapoor,Vinod Khanna,Parveen Babi,Neetu Singh,Shabana Azmi etc were the main  cast.
In the film  'Pati Patni Aur Woh' Sanjeev Kumar,Vidya Sinha,Parveen,Ranjeeta Kaur etc acted.
In the film 'Kala Pathar' directed by Yash Chopra, Amitabh Bachchan,Rakhee,Shashi Kapoor etc acted.
In the film 'The Burning Train' Dharmendra,Jeetendra and Vinod Khanna acted along with her.Director was Ravi Chopra.
'Shaan' was a big hit directed by Ramesh Sippy.Amitabh Bachchan,Sunil Dutt,Shashi Kapoor,Rakhee,Parveen,Bindiya Goswami etc acted.It told the story of a honest and brave DCP who had two brothers and those two  brothers  did all kinds of mischief.
In the super hit film 'Kranti' directed by Manoj Kumar, Dilip Kumar,Manoj Kumar,Shashi Kapoor,Hema Malini,Parveen Babi,Shatrughan Sinha etc acted.

Jeetendra,Hema Malini,Parveen were the pivot actors of 'Meri Awaz Suno'.

In the super duper hit 'Namak Halal' Amitabh Bachchan,Shashi Kapoor,Ranjeet,Parveen,Smita Patel,Kamal Kapoor etc acted.
'Arjun'(Amitabha Bachchan) who got employed in a Five Star Hotel rescuing the owner of the Hotel ''Raja'(Shashi Kapoor) from his enemies several times was the theme of the film.
Dharmendra,Jeetendra,Parveen,Sridevi,Kader Khan,Amjad Khan etc acted in the film 'Jaani Dost'(83) directed by Raghavendra Rao.
Sanjeev Kumar, Shatrughan Sinha, Parveen,Anita Raj etc acted in 'Bad Aur Badnam(84).
Parveen Babi suddenly disappeared from the film scenario and was living in USA for ten years.When she returned she had put on much weight and stayed alone in her apartment in Mumbai.
She was found dead on January 22, 2005 and believes that diabetes complications was the reason for her death.

JANKI DAS MEHRA

Janki Das Mehra was a veteran actor of Bollywood who was the first production designer of Bollywood, and he was  a writer, as well as a sportsman also.
Janki Das Mehra who got popular as Janki Das was born in 1910 and he was the only Indian Olympian who broke world record in Cycling between 1934-1942.
His film debut was in the year 1941 by portraying an important role in the film 'Khazanchi' which was made in Lahore.
He was the first production designer of Bollywood and 'Pathar and Payal' is a famous film in which he worked in this category.He introduced 'Meena Kumari,Madhubala,Khushboo' etc to films.He was the person who introduced Mala Sinha in 'Hamlet' which was produced and directed by Kishore Sahu.
In 1955 he wrote the script of film 'Yadon Ki Kaam'.
He appeared in more than 1000 films in his career and in several films he depicted important characters which received accolades and good opinion.
He acted in  V.Shantaram's 'Dr.Kotnis Ki Amar Kahani' as Dr.Mukherjee.
Janki Das also acted in Sohrab Modi's 'Daulat'(1949) in which Madhubala was introduced.
Babul(1950) was a hit film  which was directed by S.U.Sunny and in the film Dilip Kumar and Nargis were the main Pair.Janki Das had an important role in this film.
In the 1952 'Anhonee' in which Raj Kapoor  and Nargis paired, he acted as the character 'Om Prakash'.
In the  hit film 'Daera' of 1953  which was directd by Guru Dutt and acted in main role, his role was as character ' Ramzan Ali Saudagar'.
'Kala Bazar' was a super hit film of 1960 in which Janki Das acted.Dev Anand,Waheeda Rehman acted in main roles of this film and director was Vijay Anand.
Teen Devian was another hit film of Dev Anand in which Janki Das acted during that period.
He was also part of the film 'Pati Patni'(60) along with Sanjeev Kumar,Nanda,Mumtaz etc.
He acted along with Sanjay Khan,Ashok Kumar,Sadhana etc in the film 'Inteqam' directed by R.K.Nayyar in 1969.
Chanda aur Bijli was a super hit film of Sanjeev Kumar,Padmini in which Jeevan,Mohan Choti,Sachin,Janki Das etc were in the cast.
In the film 'Pushpanjali' directed by Kishore Sahu in 1970 he had a role.
In the Super hit film 'Pathar Aur Payal'(74) he also acted with Dharmendra and Hema Malini.
He acted as Dr.Janki Das in the film Chalte Chalte(76).
In the super hit film 'Fifty Fifty' in which Rajesh Khanna and Tina Munim were the main pair, he acted as a Hotel Manger.
Janki Das had deep knowledge about film making and acting etc.He wrote  many books and  among them  are ''My Misadventures in Film Land and 'Acting for Beginners'.
Janki Das passed away on 18th June 2003.

KAMAL KAPOOR

Kamal Kapoor was born on 22nd February 1920 at Lahore and was educated at the DAV College, Lahore.
He came to Mumbai in 1944 to work with his cousin Prithviraj Kapoor.Kamal Kapoor got his entry to films in 1947 with the film 'Dak Bungalow' which was produced by Indian National Pictures Ltd,  and the cast included Suraiya,Wasti,Gope,M.Ismail etc.
Next year in 1948 he acted as 'Advocate Khanna' , father of Raj Kapoor's hero character in the film 'Aag' which was produced  and directed by Raj Kapoor.
Kamal Kapoor portrayed important  roles in all the films he acted and includes characters like 'Father of hero or heroine,Police Commissioner,Judge,Lawyer,Gangster' etc.
Film of 60's and 70's earned him much reputation and popularity and acted in many prestigious films of that period.
'Shaheed' was a film based on the inspirational life of Sardar Bhagat Singh in 1965.Kamal Kapoor's role in that film  was as Public prosecutor.
In the film 'Jab Jab Phool Khile'(65) he acted as 'Rai Bahadur Chunnilal Khanna, heroine's dad.In the film Shashi Kapoor acted as the hero who was a Kashmiri  boatman and got in love with a beautiful city girl(Nanda).
In the film 'Raja Aur Runk(68) in which Sanjeev Kumar was in the lead, he acted as Senapati Vikram.
In Manmohan Desai's 'Sachcha Jutha' in which Rajesh Khanna-Mumtaz were the leadpair, Kamal acted as a Police Commissioner.
In the film 'Mehboob Ki Mehndi' he was Prosecuting Lawyer.
In the super hit film 'Pakeezah' he acted as 'Nawab Zafar Ali Khan'.
In another Super hit film 'Seeta aur Geeta' in which Dharmendra,Sanjeev Kumar,Hema Malini acted in pivotalroles, he acted as Ravi's (Sanjeev Kumar) father.
In the film 'Insaaniyat(74) he was a Judge who was hero Shashi Kapoor's father.
In the film 'Chor Machaye Shor(74) in which Shashi Kapoor-Mumtaz paired, he was father of Mumtaz as Seth Jagdish.
He acted as Police Commissioner in the film '5 Rifles'.
In the super-hit blockbuster film 'Amar Akbar Anthony' directed by Manmohan Desai in 1977 he was Superintendent Khanna.
His role as 'Narang' in the super hit film 'Don'(78) earned him much accolades and appreciation.Amitabh Bachchan was the hero of this film and Zeenat Aman was the heroine.
In another Amitabh Bachchan film 'Nastik' directed by Pramod Chakravorty, his role as 'Ghanshyam' was also well appreciated.
In the film 'Do Qaidi'(1989) in which Sanjay Dutt,Farha Naaz,Govinda acted in pivotal roles his role was as a Police Commissioner.
In the Amitabh Bachchan-Jaya Pradha film 'Inderjeet'(1991) he was a 'Principal'.
Kamal Kapoor acted in around 600 films in his career in languages 'Hindi,Punjabi and Gujarati'.
He passed away on 2nd August 2010.

RAJESH KHANNA

 Rajesh Khanna, was  one of the most successful and  versatile Indian actor. He  portrayed the record number of diversified roles successfully and amazed film lovers all over the globe.He was one of the Indian stars who had fans all over the world.He was brilliantly versatile yet he was popular as 'The Original King of Romance' and he was the first Super Star of India.He endeared everyone with his cute smile,excellent acting style and dialogue presentation,and overall charisma.This handsome actor overtook the earlier heroes and his contemporaries much ahead in popularity that his films ran all over India successfully.He was a craze for the millions of fans and where ever he went people gathered around him to get a glance of their loving actor.Female fans used to kiss his car and some of them wrote love letters to him in their blood.
Rajesh Khanna gave 91 Box Office hits in his acting career 1966-2012 period from a total of 128 films in which he was the solo lead actor.(Out of these only 117 were released).In his film career he appeared in 163 feature films.
There are 105 Box Office hits  during 1966 to 1996.
He had  minimum two  super-hits every year from 1969 to 77 period and from 1979 to 1987 period.
74 of his film celebrated Golden Jubilee and 48 were Platinum Jubilee films.
Out of the few flops he had there were critically acclaimed films.
He depicted maximum number of diversified characters like 'Air-Force Pilot,Truck Driver,Band Musician,Cancer Patient,Wealthy person,Alcoholic,Industrialist,Advocate,Forest Ranger,Illiterate Person,Fisherman,Don,Smuggler,Rickshaw Puller,Doctor,VillagernCommissioner of Police,Dacoit,School Teacher' and many more.In his career he was never type cast.
He entered film field by becoming the winner out of 10000 participants in a talent search competition and the reward was offer to act in films.His first film was 'Raaz' opposite Babita Kapoor but first released film was offbeat film 'Aakhri Khat' opposite Indrani Mukherjee which was a hit movie.
Rajesh Khanna started to climb the steps to superstar position by the film 'Baharon Ke Sapne' and reached the top by the release of film 'Aradhana' which was a super hit blockbuster film.
In the film Aradhana which was released in 1969 Sharmila Tagore was his pair and the film was directed by Shakti Samanta.He portrayed double role as Arun, and Suraj Prasad Saxena.
'Aan Milo Sajna' was a super-hit film in 1970 in which Asha Parekh was the heroine.
Rajesh Khanna made history by starring in consecutive 15 solo hits during the period 1969-71.
In the film 'Sacha Jhuta' directed by Man Mohan Desai in 1970, Mumtaz was his pair and he was in double role.He depicted a band musician living in a village who has a physically challenged sister and the other character was as a wealthy diamond business man.The film was second highest grossing film of that year.
'Anand' is a movie released in 1971 and 'India Times' ranked it as one among the 'Top 25 Must See Bollywood Films'.It was directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee.He acted as a cancer patient and Amitabh Bachchan as a Doctor.

'Bawarchi' was another nice film directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee in 1972.
It focused to spread moral values in family life through clean comedy.
'Amar Prem' was directed by Shakti Samanta in 1972 and highlighted the decline of human values in the present day society.
'Namak Haram' was released in 1973 in which Rekha was the heroine.Amitabh Bachchan,Simi Garewal,Raza Murad,Om Shivpuri etc acted.Tajesh Khanna received BFJA Award as Best Actor(Hindi) for this film.
'Prem Nagar' was Rajesh Khanna-Hema Malini paired film directed by K.S.Prakash Rao in 74, and in the same year 'Aap Ki Kasam' was released in which Mumtaz was the heroine.Sanjeev Kumar,Rehman,Asrani etc acted in it which was directed by J.Om Prakash.It was the remake of Malayalam film 'Vazhve Mayam(1970) in which Sathyan and Sheela paired.Rajesh Khanna portrayed a jealous and suspicious husband of 'Sunita'(Mumtaz).
In the 1983 film 'Agar Tum Na Hote' he portrayed a wealthy industrialist.In this film Rekha and Raj Babbar were the other lead actors.
The actor had good chemistry with the leading heroines of that period and had acted in many films together.
Tanuja  his heroine in 'Hathi Mere Sathi' , Jaya Bhaduri  the heroine of 'Bewarchi' , Zeenat Aman  the pair in 'Chhilla Babu' , Tina Munim in 'Souten', Sridevi in 'Nazrana' Hema Malini in 'Prem Nagar, Asha Parekh in Aan Milo Sajna' etc  are examples of nice combinations.
He handled double roles in films 'Aradhana,Sacha Jhuta,Kudrat,Dard,Dharam aur Kanoon,Hum Dono,Humshakel,Mahachor,Mehbooba, and Bhole Bhala'.
Rajesh Khanna was elected member of Lok Sabha from New Delhi Constituency during 1992-1996.
He won Filmfare Best actor Award three times,and in 2005 received Filmfare Life Achievement Award.He was recipient of many other awards also.
He was Posthumously awarded India's third highest civilian Award 'Padma Bhushan' on 30 April 2013.
His Bronze Statue was unveiled in Bandra, Mumbai last year.
May his soul rest in peace.
