JALAL AGHA

Being the son of popular Bollywood Comedian actor 'Agha', Jalal Agha had intrinsic acting skill and abilities, yet he did acting course at the prestigious Indian Institute of Film and Television, Pune and got polished his talents with perfection.Even though Jalal Agha worked as a character and supporting actor from late 60's to early 90's the ironic fact is that his talents were not properly utilized by the Directors and Producers.
Jalal Agha could appear in more than 60 films in Bollywood during his career, but he did not get adequate roles to utilize his talents.

His entry to films was by portraying the young version of Jehangir in the super hit historical film 'Mughal-e-Azam in 1960 and he did it brilliantly.The adult role was handled by Dilip Kumar.Later he studied at Pune Film Institute and again appeared at the acting arena.His debut film as an adult was 'Bombai Ki Bahon Mein' in 1967.
He is remembered for his performance in the popular song scene 'Mehbooba Mehbooba' in the blockbuster film 'Sholay'.
He also got appreciation and accolades for his role as the character 'Richard'  in the super hit film 'Julie'
in which south Indian actress Lakshmi was the heroine.
He had roles in English language films such as 'Bombay Talkie'(75),Gandhi(80), Kim(84),Deceivers(86) etc.
He got appreciation for several of his characters which he portrayed.
He wrote and directed a Bollywood film 'Goonj' which was released in 1989.
Jalal Agha died on March 5, 1995.

D.K.SAPRU

Daya Kishan Sapru who got popularized as D.K.Sapru was a character actor in Bollywood films from 1940's to 70's.He also appeared in certain villain type characters.Mostly he acted in dignified roles like Lawyer,Judge,Police Commissioner and other high ranked Police Officers,Maharajah(Emperor,Nawab,Sultan),Mythological characters,Historical characters,Zamindars(Thakurs,Wealthy Land Lords),Diwan(Chief Minister of Maharajah's) and of course Characters like Dad,Uncle,Grandfather etc to heroes and heroines.
D.K.Sapru was born on March 16, 1916 in Kashmir and he was a Kashmiri Pandit.
His debut film was Marathi film 'Ram Shastri' which was produced by Prabhat Productions and then he went on to act in Hindi films.
He acted in several Hindu Mythological movies like 'Sati Ahalya,Viswamitra,Draupadi Vastraharan,Jai Ambe,Chandi Pooja,Gopal Krishna,Sri Krishna Leela,Mahasati Savitri and many more.
In the film 'Gopal Krishna he depicted 'Raja Kans' and in 'Sree Krishna Leela' also he was Maharaja Kans.He portrayed Bhagwan Shri Yamaraj in the movie 'Mahasati Savitri'.
In Historicala films like 'Adil-e-Jahangir,Jhansi Ki Rani,Samrat Prithviraj Chauvan' etc he portrayed important characters.
He acted in fantasy films like 'SihaDweep Ki Sundari' also.
He got accolades for portraying the cruel, intimidating Zamindar 'Majhle Sarkar' in the movie Sahib Bibi aur Ghulam.
Diwan character of Dev Anand film 'Kalapani(58) which D.K.Sapru played was villain type who stood for the protection of real murderers and accused and imprisoned an innocent person.Diwan was directly involved in this plot.Dev Anand who played 'Karan' and  who was the son of the imprisoned victim-  Shankar Lal finds out the truth.
In the film 'Devar' he acted as 'Diwan Jaswant' and in the film 'Satyakam' he was Diwan Bajridhar Talwar.
In the film 'Gopal Krishna' he was Maharaja Kans,in the film Arpan he acted as Maharajah,In the film 'Bahu Begum' he acted as Nawab Mirza Sultan,In the film 'Kavi Kalidas' he portrayed Emperor Vikramaditya.In the film 'Alibaba Marjina' he was Baadshah.He was Maharajah in 'Dharam Veer'and in  '5 Rifles' also.
In the film 'Himalaya Ki God Mein' he was D.I.G. of Police,in the film 'Shaitan' 
he was Police Commissioner.
He acted as Military Judge in the film 'Prem Pujari',He was judge in films 'Prem  Shastra,Adalat,Hum Hindustani,Phool aur Pathar' etc.
He acted as Prosecuting Lawyer in 'Majboor and in the film 'Faraar' he acted as Defence Lawyer.
He was active in films till his death in 1979.

AGHA

                                                                     

Agha was a character actor of Bollywood who acted in more than 300 films during the period 1930's to 1980's.He was better known for his comic roles.
His debut film was Painted Sin in 1933.
His son Jalal Agha became a popular Bollywood actor and daughter Shahnaz acted in Saat Hindustani.Actor Tinnu Anand is his son in law.
He was interested in Horse races and Horses and owned horses of his own.
Agha died on April 22, 1992.

MUNAWAR SULTANA

Munawar Sultana was a highly talented and beautiful actress who was active mainly for ten years from 1945 to 54 and acted as heroine of many well noted films of those period with top heroes.She was born before partition in Lahore on 8th November 1924.
In 1945 she acted as the heroine opposite Motilal in the film 'Pehli Nazar' which was directed by Mazhar Khan.
'Dard' was a big musical hit of 1947 directed by Abdul Rashid Kardar which catapulted music composer Naushad to great heights.'Afsana Likh Rahi Hoon' is a  lovely song of this film.Munawar Sultana acted opposite Shyam Kumar in it and Husn Banu,Badri Prasad,Pratima Devi etc acted in it.
'Elan' was another super hit movie which was the 6th highest grossing film of 1947.She acted opposite Surendra in it.
In the film 'Majboor' which was released in 1948, directed by Nazir Ajmeri, she  acted along with Shyam Sohan,Shivraj,Amir Bano etc.She was the female lead of 'Meri Kahani' opposite Surendra in the same year.Director was Keki Mistry.
Murad,Leela Kumari,Ramesh Sinha,etc also acted in it.
In 1949 'Dada' was a hit film in which Sheikh Mukhtar,Murad,Mukri,Cuckoo,etc acted along with her and it was directed by Harish Shyam.
In 1949 she acted opposite Mazhar Khan in the film 'Dil Ki Duniya' which was directed by Mazhar Khan himself.P.Jairaj,Geeta Bali,Madanpuri,Agha,Jaswant etc were in the cast.
'Kaneez' was a hit film in which Munawar Sultana acted opposite Shyam.Urmila Devi,Shyama,Jillo Bai,Tiwari,Cuckoo, etc acted.
'Uddhar' was a super  hit film  in which Dev Anand acted as her hero which was directed by S.S.Kulkarni.Bharat Bhushan,Nirupa Roy,Ram Singh etc acted along with them.
'Babul' was a super hit film of 1950  which was the second highest grossing film of that year.Munawar Sultana and Nargis were the two heroines of this film and the hero was Dilip Kumar.Dilip Kumar acted as a Post Master 'Ashok',
Munawar Sultana as a wealthy girl 'Usha' and Nargis  as a poor and simple village girl 'Bela'.
In 1950 another hit film was 'Pyar Ki Manzil' in which Munawar Sultana acted opposite Rehman.Director was Keki Mistri.
In the year 1952 she acted opposite Motilal in the film 'Apni Izzat' which was directed by Nanabhai Bhatt.Yakub,Sulochana Chatterjee,Gope,Agha,Raj Mehra etc were the actors.
She acted opposite Shammi Kapoor in 'Ehsan',acted opposite Sajjan in 'Toofan' and acted opposite Trilok Kapoor in Waten' in 1954.She left film industry after her marriage in 1954.
Munawar Sultana passed away on 15th September 2007 in Mumbai.

GOPE

Gope Kamalani who became popular as Gope  was an yesteryear comedy actor who left this world 57 years back but still fondly remembered by  the old generation and loved by the youngsters.
Gope was born on April 11, 1913 in Hyderabad.His first film was 'Insaan Ya Shaitan'(1933) in which Jaddan Bai acted(Mother of Nargis).
He soon won critical acclaim and the audience were very much impressed by  his jokes and acting style which  created impressive  classic comedy.At the peak of his career his name was enough to attract viewers to the cinema halls and got credits equal to the heroes.
He was able to act in several superhit  and  classic films of those period which are still viewed widely  and the youngsters are also impressed about his acting skill.His films like 'Hindustan Hamara,Patanga'Mirza Shahiban,Chori Chori,Sharada' etc are all unforgettable films of those period.
In the film 'Hindustan Hamara'(1940) which was directed by Ram Daryani, actors 'Nandrekar,Hari Shivdasani,Jamuna,Padmadevi' etc acted and it was a super hit film.
In the film 'Dak Bangla' (1947) Kamal Kapoor,Wasti,Gope,and Suraiya were the main actors.
In the film 'Ghar Ki Izzat'(48) which was a hit film of 1948, Dilip Kumar and Mumtaz Shanti were the lead actors and Gope,Jeevan etc  acted along with them.
'Arzoo was another superhit  of Dilip Kumar in 1950 in which Kamini Kaushal,Shashikala,Neelam etc acted.
In the super hit film 'Tarana' of 1951 Dilip Kumar was the hero and Madhubala was the heroine.In this film Gope teamed up with Jeevan to play villain in a comic style which also received accolades.
Tangewali was a hit film of 1955 in which Shammi Kapoor and Anita Guha were the main pair.The director was Lekhraj Bhakri and in this film Gope acted along with other famous stars like Balraj Sahni,Nirupa Roy,Jayant etc.
Chori Chori was a classic super hit film of 1956 in which Raj Kapoor and Nargis acted in main roles.Pran,Mukri,Indira Bansal,Gope etc were the other actors.It was directed by Anant Thakur.
He started 'Gope Productions' in 1950's and produced some movies like 'Hangama'  and Biradari.Some of the films of his production house were directed by his brother Ram Kamalani.
Gope was married to actress Latika.He was busy with his acting schedules till his death in 1957 when he was only 43 years old.
