JOHNNY WALKER

Johnny Walker was born in Indore as 'Badruddin Jamaluddin Kazi'  in the year 1926 and his father was a mill worker there. When the mill was closed for ever the family moved to Mumbai where Badruddin was engaged in many odd jobs to find bread for himself and to assist his family.Later he got the job as conductor in bus services of 'BEST' in Mumbai.Meanwhile he appeared in small roles in films and Balraj Sahni happened to see his mocking a drunkard which he got impressed in  and informed Gurudutt who was looking for such a character for his film 'Baazi'.That was the well noted role which he acted in Hindi film for the first time  and it was Guru Dutt who gave  him the screen name as 'Johnny Walker'.
He acted in over 300 movies in his acting career mostly as a Comedian and in those days the comedian role would go parallel with the protagonist role  and would have importance in the story which enjoyed equal importance as the hero role itself. This was the case in almost all languages like in Tamil,Malayalam,Telugu etc also.
In Malayalam films Adoor Bhasi,Bahadoor pair  along with Sreelatha would be an essential part of most of the Prem Nazir films and Adoor Bhasi's character would be Prem Nazir's close friend. In Tamil also there were successful comedy pairs who were of much importance in many super-hit films of legendary stars.
When the importance of Comedy actors became less, Johnny walker took a break of twelve years from films. He acted in Chachi 420 after a long gap of 12 years during which he was successfully engaged in the business of precious and semi-precious stones.
Johnny Walker appeared in all but one of Guru Dutt films and had good acquaintance  with that genius film maker.
The audience loved his acting style, his cheerfulness, his dancing skill, his pencil mustache, as well as his squeaky voice. He was a singer also and sang many songs  in films.
He spotted his future wife 'Noorjehan'(a sister of actress 'Shakeela') while the recording of  a song and she was also a singer  along with him.
