One of the great legendary actor of Bollywood,' Pran' left the arena putting
millions of his fans in deep agony.He died yesterday, at 8.30p.m. in a hospital at Bandra of  Mumbai.He was 93.
The veteran actor wrote a new definition of villainy such that always his  portrayal  was very much endeared by movie lovers.At the peak of his career he was equally
 loved and feared by the people and it is said that people hesitated to put
'Pran' as their child's name.This shows the excellency and impact of his acting skill. His sheer acting talent with his unique masculine voice  made villain roles much  above hero roles in several films.He could act in more than 350 films in a span of six decades and have many blockbusters to his credit.He retired from films in 1998.
He was born as  the son of a civil engineer in  Old Delhi in 1920 on February 12.His real name was Pran Kishan Sikhand and got popularised as 'Pran'. After finishing schooling he joined as an  apprentice in a Studio at Delhi because of his passion of photography.Before the partition, his entry in to films was from Lahore through a Punjabi film in 1940.He became hero of film .Khandaan' in 1944.He acted in  the main hero role in  a couple of  other films also.After partition he moved to Bombay with his wife and child.After a few months he got the chance to act in the film 'Ziddi'(1948) which was a turning point in his career.The villain role opposite Dev Anand and Kamini Kaushal turned to be a big hit.From then on he appeared in villain roles in noted films of Superstars Dilip Kumar,Raj Kapoor,Dev Anand etc.Films like Dev Das,Munimji,Madhumati,Ram aur Shyam,Jis Desh mein Ganga behti hai, etc were all blockbusters of that period.His portrayal of the character as tyrannical brother in law of Ram aur Shyam boosted the image of villain role such as like that of the hero.Pran became Bollywood's well paid villain actor.
Later in the year 1967 he acted with Manoj Kumar in the film 'Upkar' in a positive role.His acting  transformation from a cruel person to a gentleman  was quite easy for him and he was successful afterwards to play variety roles as brother,father,grandfather etc also with equal expertise. He will be remembered for his numerous films but movies like "Khandan,Bari Behan,Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai,Half ticket,Upkar,Purab aur Pachim,Don,Zanjeer,Milan,Madhumati,Kashmir ki Kali,Be Imaan,Dev Das,Johny Mera Naam,Victoria No.203,Aansoo Ban Gaye Phool etc are a few  films

which the viewers loved his performance exceedingly.
He formed a partnership with Amitabh Bachchan in 14 films out of which most of them were hits like 'Don,Amar Akbar Antony and Kaalia'.
Pran received Padma Bhushan from Government of India for his contributions to Indian Cinema in the year 2001.
In 2013 May he received Dada Saheb Phalke Award, which is the highest film award in India.
He was the recipient of four Filmfare Awards also.He received several other awards and recognitions from many  other organisations too.
Pran was voted Villain of the Millennium  and one among the top 25 Asian Actors of all time as per the list made by CNN.
