Malayalam and acted in around 180 films in his film career.He was an established professional stage artiste as well and formed a Professional drama Troupe in his home town "Cherthala' in the name 'Jubilee Theatres'.The
last drama played by that troupe was 'Amminipuram Gramapanchayat' in which lyrics were written by him and also held music composition.He proved his ability in film direction by directing three Malayalam films also.
Rajan P.Dev was the son of stage actor S.J.Dev and Kuttiyamma.His father
S.J.Dev who acted in professional Drama troupes was also a famous artist.
Rajan P.Dev before joining films was also a well known actor by acting in well
known troupes like N.N.Pillai's Viswa Kalakendram.While acting in the troupe
of S.L.Puram Sadanandan and portraying the lead role as 'Kochuvava' of the drama 'Kattukuthira' , the drama as well as Rajan P.Dev became very popular.
The vague style of dialogue presentation of 'Kochuvava' and the peculiar mannerisms
were brilliantly presented by Rajan P.Dev.That play was staged throughout
Kerala which boosted his fame but when that story was filmed in Malayalam
the role of 'Kochuvava' was played by Thilakan.
Rajan P.Dev in an interview disclosed about his disappointment about not
getting the role of his prestigious and popular role as 'Kochuvava' in the film.
The film 'Aniyan Bava Chettan Bava' directed by Rajasenan became a super duper hit and his versatile acting talents was critically acclaimed by all.As
the rich illiterate brothers, both Narendra Prasad and Rajan P.Dev presented
excellent acting skills in that film.
Rajn P.Dev acted as corrupt Police Officer in several films.He was equally good to manifest roles like political leaders, corrupted Ministers etc also.
When handling villainous roles the cruel mannerisms best suited for the characters was applied by him always that they all became unforgettable roles and sequences.His roles in films 'Thommanum Makkalum', Chotta Mumbai,
Chandu Pottu, Pandippada,Chocolate,Rakshasa Rajavu,Varnapakittu,Love in Singapore etc were all critically acclaimed.
Rajan P.Dev entered in to Tamil,Telugu and Kannada and was equally popular
in those languages in villain and character roles.
Telugu films 'Aadi' of 2002 with Jr.NTR and Keerthi Chawla, 'Okkadu' of 2003
with Mahesh Babu ,Bhoomika etc all received good opinion.
He directed three Malayalam films "Achammakkkuttiyude Achayan,Maniyarakallan, and Achante Kochumolkku" and proved his diversified abilities.
